What is a clinical trial?

Navigating the clinical trial process can be a little overwhelming. At its simplest, a clinical trial is a research study that tests the safety and efficacy of a medication, course of treatment, or device. Sometimes, clinical trials set out to understand if a new treatment is more effective or has fewer side effects compared to existing treatments. A clinical trial is one of the last stages of medical research: It is preceded by diverse and exhaustive laboratory tests on animals, and only when a treatment or drug shows favorable results, is it approved by the FDA to be tested in humans.

Knowing the basics

Here’s how it works

Step 1

Find a trial that you or a loved one wish to be a part of, via our website or through your physician/nurse practitioner. Sign up with the accompanying form.

Step 2

Conduct a pre-screening call to assess your medical history and eligibility and schedule an in-person screening appointment.

Step 3

During screening appointment, once the informed consent is signed, you may undergo a physical exam and other medical evaluations to determine if you qualify for trial.

Step 4

If you qualify, you are enrolled in a study and receive study medications and evaluations. Compensation may be provided after each visit.

Step 5

We offer support at every step of the process. At the end of  the study, CRP sends a follow-up letter to your primary care physician, if requested.
